Odds and Ends

Just a picture update for memory's sake:

Luke stopped to pet a calf on our way to school.

The kids presented the Legend of the Turrialba Volcano for
Clase de Cultura.

One of my classes -- wonderful Christian ladies!

All the families rented a bus and took a trip
to the Children's Museum in San Jose.  Fun day!
Great museum!

Our kids brought along some friends, Justin (yoo-stin) and Kellar.

One week we had a wild experience with leaf-cutter ants.
We awoke to a literal army -- thousands -- marching across
our yard, patio, and up this avocado tree.
Look at the sheer volume of leaves they haul -- amazing!
And check out how large the leaves are compared to their bodies.
The pic shows how sometimes "harvester" ants cut and carry the leaves to a
"drop zone," where other ants come and pick them up to take back to
the nest.  Love the creativity God instills!

Watching them work was wild!

H, too.

And E.

The kids had a monster water balloon fight.
Notice our "lake" in the background.
We finally saw fish in it for the first time; we
were surprised that over 20 tilapia could survive
in there.

Vicki came over and taught me how to make
lasagna de palmitas (white lasagna with heart of palm).

The finished product

Last night playing with friends at Casa Grande.  We
are excited to move to a more traditional
Tico house.
